Purabi completed her PhD in 2023 at the University of Helsinki where she studied how birds respond to the interaction of climate and land use change. As a postdoctoral researcher, she will now focus on developing and testing non-lethal control methods to protect waterfowl and wader species from increased hunting pressure from invasive and human-subsidised meso-predators.
Her primary interests lie in understanding how animals and plants are responding to the various changes that humans cause in the environment. For her PhD, this lead to a focus on urban ecology, now using similar themes of invasive species and human influence on animal populations, she will shift focus to conservation biology.
