Carina conducted her PhD research at the FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology (University of Cape Town, South Africa) in which she explored mechanisms of colour polymorphism maintenance in the black sparrowhawk (Accipiter melanoleucus). In 2021, she joined the group at the University of Turku as a post-doctoral researcher.
Her work here focuses on the Finnish white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla). By using an extensive dataset on individual life-histories, Carina will make predictions about the future development and threats to long-term conservation of this species in Finland.
