In my doctoral research, I study the role of a successful invasive mesopredator, the raccoon dog, in the food web and how its harmful impacts could be mitigated using non-invasive methods, like chemical camouflage. In particular, my research focuses on studying the diet and nest predation of the raccoon dog, and how the presence of a native apex predator, the grey wolf, affects raccoon dog behaviour. My aim is to increase understanding of the role of the raccoon dog in the changing boreal ecosystem.
My interests are in mammal biology, from their physiology to their ecology, and in human impact on the ecosystem.
