I am a doctoral student researching the movement ecology of juvenile white-tailed eagles (Haliaeetus albicilla) using GPS-tags and accelerometer data. White-tailed eagles are known to settle in territories similar to their natal areas (Penttinen et al., 2025). In my thesis, I investigate whether the preference for natal-like habitats persist both in the parental territory and during natal dispersal. Furthermore, I study how habitat influences behavioural patterns and how different populations of white-tailed eagles vary in their movement.

Previously, I studied how habitat selection changes during natal dispersal to improve connectivity and how low densities affect populations. My research interests include movement ecology, behaviour, natal dispersal, learning, population dynamics and the application of ecological research to conservation.
